London Literature Lounge Meets Tilt for the Word on the Street Festival 2015
LMA presents as its finale event of its Word on the Street Festival a poetry and music showcase featuring the thrilling Mamta Sagar, Mark Gwynne Jones, Lauren Alleyne, Anjan Saha, Nina Joshi Ramsey and Dheeraj Sahai-Mishra. These international artists hailing from India, Kenya, Trinidad and England carry through their words and performance resounding personal and political messages.
The event will also be the London Book Launch of Lauren Alleyne’s poetry collection, Difficult Fruit (Peepal Tree, 2014).

Poet and playwright AMIRI BARAKA, cited as a godfather of the US Black Arts Movement, joined us for a London Liming performance and national tour in 2012. This video is a memento and tribute to a spoken word legend who sadly passed away in January 2014.

TILT PRESENTS at UCL's 'One Day in the City'
On 13 June 2014, UCL's English department presented 'One Day in the City' Festival, a day of theatrical walks, talks, readings and performances, art exhibits and London-based conversations
As part of the day, Tilt curated three events:

3pm: LONDON LIMING with TIM CLARE, patron JOHN AGARD, comedy genius PRINCE ABDI, poets BRIDGET MINAMORE, SOPHIE ROBINSKI of Roundhouse Poets, novelist and short fiction writer NICK BARLAY, musician JAMES INGHAM, host MELANIE ABRAHAMS, and music from DJ: JAMIE RENTON
5pm: IS IT SOMETHING I SAID?’ with WILL SELF, INDIA KNIGHT, TIM CLARE chaired by Professor JOHN SUTHERLAND

Tilt, Apples and Snakes and The Albany present TELLING TALES SLAM LIVE
Medieval meets Modern in a sizzling staged slam of talented poets who each take on a character from Patience Agbabi’s new book Telling Tales. The line-up includes PATIENCE AGBABI, FRANCESCA BEARD, DZIFA BENSON, THE SPEECH PAINTER, MICHAEL BROME, KYRILL POTAPOV, SHANE SOLANKI, STEVE TASANE, PETE BEARDER, plus neo-medieval musical responses by PSYKHOMANTUS.

In Memory of Amiri Baraka: 1934 - 2014
The start of 2014 saw the sad passing of AMIRI BARAKA, a prolific poet, novelist, playwright, music critic, editor, and cultural organiser, who extended the possibilities of modern writing. Following a day-long symposium at the ICA, the evening performance will mark the late poet’s life and work with readings by poets and speakers, many of whom knew him well, including LINTON KWESI JOHNSON, JEAN 'BINTA' BREEZE, KAYO CHINGONYI, SEAN BONNEY, MICHAEL ZAND, MELANIE ABRAHAMS and YVETTE HEYLIGER.

This show is curated by Queen's Gold Medal Award Winner for Poetry, JOHN AGARD. John's hand-picked line up of guests includes LEMN SISSAY, CAROLINE BIRD, ALEXANDER D GREAT, JAMES INGHAM and MELANIE ABRAHAMS, Roundhouse poets SARAH PERRY and ANTOSH WOJCIK plus a special performance set by the man himself. Accompanied by cellist TONY WOOLLARD (Cello Journeys), writer and actress SOPHIE WOOLLEY performed a satirical monologue at our spoken word festival Something I Said?. The piece was inspired by classic film 'Brief Encounter' and random snippets of literature gathered via upsidedown reading on the train.

Dean Atta a young poet of Jamaican and Greek Cypriot heritage based in London, has a long history in performing in West End musicals, community theatre and open mic nights. His poetry has been featured on BBC Radio 4 and he has been a recipient of a 'Spirit of London' Award for services to Poetry.
