Renaissance One in association with South Thames College and Wandworth Arts Festival 2012 presents an aspirational live public showcase of spoken word, song and music.

It presents a platform of South Thames learners in the Creative Industries department - writers, singers, rappers and performers - alongside professional artists ADISA, AOIFE MANNIX, JAMES INGHAM and host MELANIE ABRAHAMS.

Dean Atta is a young poet of Jamaican and Greek Cypriot heritage based in London, who has been performing from a young age in West End musicals, community theatre and open mic nights. His poetry has been featured on BBC Radio 4 and he is a recipient of a 'Spirit of London' Award for his services to Poetry.

Ayanna Witter-Johnson is a captivating composer, jazz vocalist and musician with a First Class Degree from Trinity College. She's spent the last few years in New York, only recently settling back in London, and during her stint in the Big Apple was crowned Super Top Dog at the Amateur Night Live finals at the Harlem Apollo.

Ayanna joined us for a special London Liming performance in 2009.

LONDON LIMING offers spoken word, music, socialising and dancing under one roof. It is an opportunity to unwind, experience the best performers around, and take part!

Our last event explored the theme of INDEPENDENCE! and features JOHN HEGLEY, HANNAH LOWE, JOHN AGARD, ROGER ROBINSON, SIMON MOLE, and music by JAMES INGHAM (guitar). Co-hosted by JOHN AGARD (London Liming Patron) and MELANIE ABRAHAMS

London Liming offers spoken word, music, socialising and dancing under one roof.

Our event in December 2011 commemorated the 10th anniversary of the Modern Love Spoken Word Show which took place at the Queen Elizabeth Hall, Southbank Centre. This particular show featured CHARLIE DARK, SABRINA MAHFOUZ, MICHAEL HOROVITZ, FRANCESCA BEARD, SURESHOT, JAMES INGHAM and was hosted by MELANIE ABRAHAMS. The show included a special tribute to SKORPIO, a much admired and loved poet who passed away in 2011.

Feb 2012 at Kings Place: Spoken Word show

Six Word Memoir


Writers and performers Lail Arad, Francesca Beard, David Mills, Shalom Auslander **and **Jamie Glasman presented a Memoir of Six Words, and then revealed the backstory in six minutes. At the show’s end everyone was invited to share a Six-Word Memoir as part of a participatory Six-Word Slam Hosted by Larry Smith 
at Kings Place.  The event was a Jewish Book Week event in association with Tilt.

Nov 2011: Leicester Liming

**Liming on Tour: spoken word meets carnival**

In 2010 Liming toured London, Liverpool, Nottingham, Ilkley and Sheffield and last November, made a stop at Embrace Arts, Leicester, featuring performances by Deborah Stevenson, Sureshot, Lydia Towsey and guest poet Michael Horovitz. Music by Psykhomantus and hosting by Melanie Abrahams.

:Who Are We: And Should It Matter in the 21st Century?

20 - 25 October, various cities

Gary Younge, Guardian columnist and a winner of the prestigious James Cameron award for his coverage of the Obama election and the "combined moral vision and professional integrity" of his work, was in England in October to present a talks series on themes of identity and social justice based on his latest book, Who Are We: And Should It Matter In the 21st Century
